I am an independent educational consultant with Usborne Books. I have always had an interest in children, education and
learning; and I have always been passionate about books. Four years
ago, I made the decision to leave my career in social work to enjoy my time with our young children. It was without a doubt the best
decision we could have made for our family. I feel so lucky to be
able to stay home with them while my husband continues to work as a
firefighter and paramedic. I have not regretted this decision for even
a moment, but it did come with one small drawback - less income.
A
couple years ago, I began searching for a way to replace some of our
lost income, without compromising my time with my children. Nothing
really seemed like a good fit for our busy family until I came across
Usborne Books. I found these great books in the same way you may have.
I bought one Usborne book at a kids' museum and was hooked! I was
frustrated that I couldn't find them in my local bookstore and I was
finding it difficult to justify driving over an hour (each way) just to
look at books! That's not to say I didn't drive that distance on a few
occasions with two toddlers in tow. I did... because that is how much I
love these books!
In fact, I love books so much that
it has become a bit of a running joke in our family. One day, my
husband joked that I could run a bookstore out of our house with all
the books we have for our children. If only he knew at the time what a
spark that statement would ignite! Why couldn't I run a bookstore of
sorts out of our house? After sleeping on it and doing a bit of
research, I discovered that Usborne Books & More was the business opportunity
I'd been looking for. What a perfect combination of all my interests;
education, children, and books... and without compromising my time with
my family. And since we're being so honest here, the idea of earning
free and discounted books WHILE having an hour or two of adult
conversation was an opportunity too great to pass up!
And
so it began; my new role with Usborne Books! I hope to grant you the same
